Examinations
Examinations or Physical Exams are important and required to dispence medicine for your pets. Although you pay close attention to your pet our Doctors have been educated to perform a complete examination looking for problems and concerns for you! We can look deep into the ears, palpate the body ascult the chest and heart rate. The mouth needs to be looked at for dental and oral health problems. Tumors affect all of our patients so any nodule or lump should be pointed out to us. We can perform further diagnostic tests to confirm a diagnosis.
For lumps or nodules we can aspirate the mass and send off the material to the lab and have a pathologist make a diagnosis. If we surgically remove the mass then we can send it off for a biopsy again for a diagnosis.
Blood Panels are helpful to determine the organ function. Checking for glucose levels, checking the kidneys, the liver, see if the blood is normal helps us diagnose a posible lethal problem. If all the results are normal then we can feel we looked and no problems were found.
Radiographs (xray) can be taken usually under sedation or general anesthesia to see the inner body parts.
Although our Doctors and staff have a long history of experience we often refer our patients to specialists in the NC area for further work.
