Vaccinations

I recommend the following vaccine schedule:

Dogs :    P parvo, D distemper, A adenovirus (hepatitis), P parainfluenza, L leptospirosis  R rabies

6-7 weeks    P

8-11 weeks  DAPP(L)

12 weeks      DAPP(L)

16 weeks      R  (If an animal should start vaccines later than 11, 12 weeks it still should have two sets of the dapp(L) combo to protect for the first year.

KCV (Bordatella)  If boarding or around alot of other dogs at dog shows, the park, or grooming.

  15 months repeat dapp(L), rabies

Repeat vaccines annually.  North Carolina law states that first rabies is issued for 1 year and vaccines following the first one are repeated every 3 years.

Other dog vaccines are available but we are not recommending them at this time include Lyme, Corona, Influenza vaccines.  Contacts us if questions

Cats:    R rabies, Felv Feline Leukemia, FVRCP rhinotracheitis, calici, panleukopenia

6 weeks     FVRCP

9 weeks     FVRCP, FELV

12 weeks   FVRCP, FELV

16 weeks   R

If kitten or cat is older then 11, 12 weeks it should still have two vaccines for both the fvrcp, felv to protect it for a year.

Prestest all adult cats and kittens for feline leukemia prior to vaccines. After boosters repeat vaccines yearly.

Rabies in cats same as dogs, first vaccine is good for one year, subsequent vaccines last for 3 years in the state of North Carolina.

Other cat vaccines available but not recommended here at this time are FIP feline infections peritonitis, and KCV kennel cough vaccine.
