Examinations or Physical Exams are important and required to dispense medicine for your pets.  Although you pay close attention to your pet our doctors have been educated to perform a complete examination looking for problems and concerns for you!   We can look deep into the ears, palpate the body, auscult the chest and heart rate.  The mouth needs to be examined for dental and oral health problems. Tumors can affect any of our patients, so any nodule or lump should be pointed out to us.  We can perform further diagnostic tests to confirm a diagnosis.

For some lumps or nodules we may recommend to aspirate the mass. Sometimes the material is sent to the lab and a pathologist will make a diagnosis.  If we surgically remove the mass then we may send it off for a biopsy again for a diagnosis.

Blood Panels are helpful to determine normal organ functions.  Checking for glucose, kidneys, liver and other chemisteries to see if the levels are normal helps us to diagnose a possible illness or potentionally lethal problem.

Radiographs (xray) can be taken usually under sedation or general anesthesia.

Although our Doctors and staff have a long history of experience we sometimes refer our patients to specialists in the NC or SC area for a specialized workup.
